Panel OKs Kallon for Alabama federal judgeship. MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Birmingham lawyer Abdul Kallon has moved a step closer to replacing Alabama's first black federal judge. The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday by unanimous consent approved the nomination of the 40-year-old Kallon to replace Clemon, who retired.
